Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

2014 has been a busy year with much to be grateful for.   We would like to take this opportunity to give you a quick update on how we are doing.

Jacob started preschool half days this past September.   He is a very busy little boy who enjoys swimming lesson.  He will be starting skating lessons and gymnastics in January.  He is also very excited about Santa coming to his house at Christmas.  It is hard to believe he will be turning 4 years old on January 30.

I have had a very busy year as I continue my full time work, coaching and speaking engagements throughout the province.  In June, I received an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from the University of Regina.   The day was very special for all of us as we celebrated this great honour with friends and family.   In November, I was nominated as an MLA candidate for the NDP, Regina Coronation Park.  This upcoming year will be very busy as I prepare for the next provincial election.

Mary Jo continues to be very busy with her work at Canada Life and with Jacob's activities.

We just came back from enjoying a week of sunshine in Riviera Maya, Mexico earlier in December.

Adam is working in Kindersley, Saskatchewan and is keeping busy with friends and his work.

Mary Jo and I would like to extend to you and your families our best wishes for a Happy Holiday Season and a New Year filled with peace and joy!

31 Year Anniversary

Saturday, 30 March, 2013

On March 20, 2013, while I was in Shaunavon speaking at their high school for Positive Lifestyles Day, I referenced that the day coincidentally marked my 31st anniversary of being in Saskatchewan. I shared my story as an immigrant from war torn and yet my beloved home country of Ethiopia.  I told them of surviving and fleeing inhumane injustice, desolate refugee circumstances and continuously needing to remind myself to never give up. In so many ways, I found it fitting I could extend...

March 20, 2012 marks 30 years for me arriving in Regina. The last 30 years have flown by with many milestones and cherished memories.   There has been a lot that has happened over the last 30 years; however, the highlights of those years are definitely about family.  I have enjoyed watching my oldest son Adam grow into a young adult.  I met and married my wife, Mary Jo in 2009 and the arrival of our son Jacob in 2011.   I feel fortunate to have a supporting and loving family.
