Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
2014 has been a busy year with much to be grateful for. We would like to take this opportunity to give you a quick update on how we are doing.
Jacob started preschool half days this past September. He is a very busy little boy who enjoys swimming lesson. He will be starting skating lessons and gymnastics in January. He is also very excited about Santa coming to his house at Christmas. It is hard to believe he will be turning 4 years old on January 30.
I have had a very busy year as I continue my full time work, coaching and speaking engagements throughout the province. In June, I received an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from the University of Regina. The day was very special for all of us as we celebrated this great honour with friends and family. In November, I was nominated as an MLA candidate for the NDP, Regina Coronation Park. This upcoming year will be very busy as I prepare for the next provincial election.
Mary Jo continues to be very busy with her work at Canada Life and with Jacob's activities.
We just came back from enjoying a week of sunshine in Riviera Maya, Mexico earlier in December.
Adam is working in Kindersley, Saskatchewan and is keeping busy with friends and his work.
Mary Jo and I would like to extend to you and your families our best wishes for a Happy Holiday Season and a New Year filled with peace and joy!

On February 3, 2014, I delivered the keynote address at the 109th Annual SUMA Convention held in Regina at Queensbury Convention Centre. On January 31, 2014, I was invited to speak at Balfour High School to the students and staff. I was happy to provide more insight the issues refugees are faced with when they come to Canada and some of the challenges they may have at school. This was a great opportunity to create a forum for discussion for everyone to create more understanding of each other.
On January 21, 2014, I had the opportunity to speak at Dr. Perry School in Regina to approximately 370 students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 on the topic of Respecting Diversity. I shared with them my lifestory, the value of life long education and also discussed with them what diversity is and the benefits we obtain from it. The students asked many thought provoking questions afterwards. I hope to be able to come back and visit them again in the future.
